Privacy

FACE is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to this information. Personal information We only collect personal information that is relevant to FACE's activities as an organisation. This information might include:

  • Your name and contact details (email address, telephone number, postal address, etc).
  • Your place of work (organisation name, organisation address, etc).
  • Any other personal information you provide us.

Collection of information

Most information we collect is information you give us directly. For instance, members of the FACE network fill in a form when they apply for membership. We need to keep this information in order to operate our organisation and events. We may also receive similar information about you indirectly through third parties, such as co-organisers of FACE events.

We maintain a page on Facebook. When you interact with us on Facebook we may be able to view personal information about you. The information you share is determined by the privacy preferences you have selected in your Facebook account.

When you visit this website we also collect limited information through Google Analytics.

Use of Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics -- a common tool that collects statistics on website use -- in order to improve the functioning of this website and measure its effectiveness. Data collected by Google Analytics includes:

  • Technical information -- for instance, the operating system, browser, IP address, and type of device being used to visit this website.
  • Information about your visit -- for instance, length of visit, pages viewed, referral information.

None of this data can be used to personally identify users. We anonymise IP addresses in line with best practices for user privacy.

Use of cookies

A cookie is a small file which is stored on your computer. It can be used to store information about you that is accessible to websites you visit. In many cases, this makes websites more functional and useful -- for instance, a cookie can be used to remember your language preference for a website.

Like most websites, we use cookies to improve the experience of using our website -- but never for advertising. You can turn off cookies through your browser, but this might adversely affect your experience of this website.

How and why your information is used

We use your information in a number of ways, but only in order to deliver FACE activities. Our use of your information may include:

  • Providing you with services or information offered as part of FACE membership.
  • Sending you relevant information that you have requested or that may be of interest to you.
  • Seeking your views or comments on our activities.
  • Notifying you of changes to our organisation or its activities.

In order to deliver our services we may use third party services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc.

Third party access to your information

We frequently co-organise FACE events and may need to share limited information about you (for instance, your email address) with third parties. We may also pass your information to third parties working on our behalf -- for instance, freelance project managers, website administrators, etc. We will never sell or rent your information.
